Using NI Software with Microsoft Windows 8.1
The software included in NI Developer Suite is a subset of the software in the Software Platform Bundle, which includes the majority of NI Developer Suite for building any application. Develop applications in multiple environments, including LabVIEW Professional, LabWindows™/CVI™, and Measurement Studio. NI Developer Suite and the Software Platform Bundle include the same software versions. The products that you can activate are determined by the type of license you purchased. For a full list of products, including updated products, included with NI Developer Suite, visit ni.com/info and enter the Info Code devsuite2018ds1.
Complete the following steps to install products on the NI Developer Suite DVDs:
If you purchased any of the NI Developer Suite options, you can install and activate them using the DVDs. If you want to evaluate any of these options before purchasing them, you can install and try them for free. Refer to the product documentation for the length of the evaluation period.
Save the media to modify or repair your installation or to distribute NI software with your custom-built installers.
Installing modules and toolkits from the NI Developer Suite media ensures compatibility. Some versions of LabVIEW toolkits that are not found on these NI Developer Suite media may not work with the version of LabVIEW included in this release. Installing an incompatible toolkit might cause some features in the toolkit or LabVIEW to behave incorrectly.
The following products are included in the NI Developer Suite media. The readmes for the NI software you have installed are located in the Readme directory.
Visit ni.com/security to view and subscribe to receive security notifications about NI products. Visit ni.com/critical-updates for information about critical updates from NI.
You can automate the installation of most NI products using command-line arguments to suppress some or all of the installer user interface and dialog boxes. However, starting with the August 2012 releases (products using NI Installers version 3.1 or later), you may need to perform additional steps before or during a silent installation of NI software.
If the NI product you are installing uses Microsoft .NET 4.0, the .NET installer may run before any NI software installs and may require a reboot before the installation of NI software begins. To avoid a .NET reboot, install .NET 4.0 separately before you install NI software.
For more information about automating the installation of NI products, refer to the following KnowledgeBase articles:
